2010 Auto-X Schedule

Drag? Autocross? Road? Endurance? If it goes fast and is competitive, here's the place for it.

It was just a plain old Cobalt that was drifting around the corners, there was a S/C SS Cobalt that did very well too. The main reason some awd cars did not do as well, they had race rubber on and like me a very serious grip issues.

SM had a wide variety of cars that day and not one was AWD. So it seems like that class is hit or miss on any given weekend. Especially when bad weather is in the forecast.

If it was a red SW20 gen 2 MR2 that's a stock turbo model that shows up to every auto-x in the AR SCCA. I think the guy that owns it helps with timing and scoring and setting up the course.

Man I REALLY want to make it to one of these events. I'm still envious of the fun you guys had last December when you crashed the last race of the season at War Memorial - I was like four blocks away, hearing tires squealing, and having my veins pulse up.

That's one if the cool things about auto cross. You never know what you will see, and an every day car can do well sometimes in the classes.

I may try to get out there with (or even without) my son. I'd love to try out the G8 and Shaun McCallister has been asking if "we" (APA) were coming out this weekend. Maybe - how's that for commitment.

I wimped out. I'll bet it was a great event, but I had too much to do around here and this is the first nice weather we've had to do it in. I'm sure I'll hear about not showing up to the race from Shaun. I did get a few things (but not everything) done at the house, so I didn't totally waste the day.

It was a beautiful day for racing. I finally got my tire pressures down pretty good, so now I'm going with (don't hit any cones) for my next test. I don't think I hit a single one, although I did do a 360 and 2 corner drifts "brickwall".

Then my car decided to call it quits and shot the power steering cap off and let all the fliud go all over the place under the hood. So needless to say I stopped and did not do my 6th run. But I did fix it there and was able to drive it home. It is a good feeling when people that you really do not know will help you out. punkr

Sounds like it was a great day to be on course... :(
LOL... I was kicked back in my lawn chair watching a nail biter of a base ball game :cheerleader:  about the time you were puking power steering fluid.

Hope to make it up for a event this year, but it may be in the second half of the year...
I'm pretty much out for anything car related for a while I think.

Well, I finally got the G8 out there today. As expected, it had plenty of power but the driver wasn't able to tame it well enough. The struts are a bit soft for that group but it was fun to take it to it's limit of adhesion...yes I got a little loose but other than inadvertantly turning on the wipers while trying to recover on the slalom, I didn't get too out of shape.

Ryan was out there abusing the tires on his SVO and I met another guy from UofA that had a pretty mean Black 4th gen T/A. punkr

There were some fast cars - the usuals the wicked black Z06, the yellow Porche Carerra, the 914, etc, but I was surprised to see a Cobalt SS run VERY close to that Z06, and while I knew that the EVO that a friend of mine has was fast, it too was near the top and was amazing to watch as he hit the 1-2 shift.

With around 90 drivers there, the program was taking too long, so I split at half time again, which was about 3:30 PM! I couldn't stick around to the estimated 7:30 or later to finish as we took Eric's out for his B-day meal (since I'll be working on Tue, his real B-day) :gift: .

Well color me jealous. I went to a race this weekend and it had horsepower but not the kind I'm used to. I don't normally do the horse races in Hot Springs but my sister invited us to join them after they won a package deal of condo, car and race passes for the Arkansas Derby. Free is too good to pass up. boo-yah

No, I didn't win a nickle. Yes, Shoemamma did make a few bucks and she's not sharing it with me. crackwhip

I'm still hoping we can go as a club to the May event. Hopefully there won't be 90 drivers at that one. Wow. I bet it was backed up something awful. That makes for a long day.

It was a frustrating......then fun..........then back to frustrating day for me. In the morning I just was not there mentally. By the afternoon I picked up the pace and ran a good time....then ran my best time of the day but hit a cone. "brickwall" Then on the drive home my car just completely died. But in doing so I rolled in to a hotel parking lot off of I 630 and found this Mexican Resturant that has $3.00 32 oz drafts.........so while I waiting on my wife to come to my rescue with the truck and car trailer I sampled some Bud Light with a couple of other auto-crossers that came to my rescue too.

At the end of the day I had a blast, broke my car, drank some beers with freinds and had my wife rescue me. punkr Not bad for a 13 hour day, all in the love of hitting cones and having fun.

We agreed to make that the May meeting today. I've got to confirm with the SCCA folks that we can do the meeting there as well but I suspect it's a go.

Well yesterday had some "goods" and "bads". The good; the weather was very nice in the morning and I only hit 1 cone all day. The bad; Mother nature decided to mess up our fun and I ran slower times then I should have. But I was running at only 7-8 psi instead of 16-18 psi. Oh and I missed the meeting.

I decided I would rather run a clean controlled "cone free" run instead of running a faster sloppy hitt'n cones and taken names run. Hopefully soon I'll be able to run a clean fast run.

Then driving home in my Mustang (that does not do well in the rain in the first place) then add pulling a tire trailer, needless to say I took a little longer to get home then normal. :x I was more nervous driving home then I was on the course. Mainly becuase some of the other drivers.........and the swimming pools on the hwy.

It did rain hard, didn't it?

The meeting was short and to the point. I'd designed it that way since I HOPED we'd all be at the autocross. I called it off due to the forecast. I'm glad I did. I have a feeling we would have been soaked and not had any meeting at all.

Cone kill'n is upon us again, this Saturday (event #7) and Sunday (event #8). I know the meeting is Saturday night, and I'm leaving for St Louis Monday morning...............So I'm not sure if I'm racing this weekend, if I do it will be Saturday then sneak out early to come to the meeting.
