3/19 Cruise-In and Smoke On The Water show

Postby bandit77 » Sun Mar 07, 2010 10:48 am

Hey all!

Lori and I were thinking about driving over from Texas for the cruise-in Friday night 3/19 and sticking around for the big BBQ event that saturday. Where do you all meet Friday night for the cruise-in? Will there be a club display/parking area for the Smoke on the water event on Sat? Looking forward to saying hello to all of you again...thanks!

David, the cruise in on Friday night is at the River Market on the Little Rock side of the river. We park cars in the 2 pavilions and when they're full we spill over onto the grass in the river front park. It's strictly first come first serve on parking and even though the official start time is 5 p.m. I'll tell you that from 3 p.m. on its open season. We've even seen some show up as early as 1 p.m. Must be nice to be retired. LOL.

I'll be down there around 5, maybe a little earlier. Wayne and Stacy are usually around earlier than that. I'll be hauling in the roll around tool box we're raffling, uh I mean "collecting charitable donations for" this year to raise money for charity. That means I'll be in my pickup truck. :crybaby:

I know several of us will be at the Smoke On The Water BBQ show and shine the next day. As a matter of fact, we'll probably be doing most of the parking and such at that one. Maybe we can get a plan on Friday night for where to meet and all cruise in to that one together? FYI, that one is on the North Little Rock side of the river.

With Chris' 73Z gone, I might be bringing a certain (and at one time "banned" :crybaby: ) car out of the woodworks for the first time in years.

It was good to actually drive it again. Had been probably over a year since, but it still fits like an old glove

I was planning on trying to get a group plan on Friday night at CITR. At that time I'd know if the parking vests are ready from Ed and Beth or if we need to wear our green work shirts. At this point, I'd say plan on wearing the greens. It starts at noon so we ought to try and get in by 11:00 at the latest. I'm voting we all meet up at the parking lot of the Wyndham hotel in North Little Rock at 10:45. How does that sound?

cara emailed me this... "brickwall"
> A cold front will be making its way through Arkansas on Saturday and Saturday evening. I think there will be enough moisture in place for some thunderstorms. The question at this point is whether there will be
enough instability present for severe weather. Current indications are that there will be at least some chance of severe weather, primarily in south central and southeast parts of Arkansas. Large hail and damaging winds will be the main threats, but isolated tornadoes cannot be ruled
out.

> Colder air will spill into the state Saturday night. There may very well be a rain/snow mix in northern Arkansas. Whether snowflakes will be seen as far south as the central part of the state is still very uncertain.

Yeah, I've been watching the weather. They do seem to think we'll see some weather and it appears it will be in the afternoon. I'll just say that we have to play it by ear at this point. If we hear thunder we run like HE!!.

It was a pretty good turn out tonight. We registered something near 150 cars and Brian took Eric through the park for a look. They counted 14 that didn't register. There were more that pulled in, ate dinner and left. Overall, a great start to the season.

It was great to see David and Lori Hershey up from Texas. Lori's car is just as nice as I remembered it. I heard a story that David wanted her to drive his Camaro up (didn't know he had one) and she told him no, she was driving her TA. You go girl!

Smoke on the Water is looking like a rain out. If anyone is planning on being there, call me before you go.

Anybody else really tired?

We had about 85 at the show and shine today. Everyone was watching their phones and the radar. We broke up around 3:30 because the weather was coming at us pretty fast. The park on the north shore is a great location for cars. I hope we can work with it in the future.

Hey all! Thanks so much for having me and Lori Friday night at the cruise-in...we had a blast...what a great turnout! That was really impressive. And, the venue was really cool too. Sorry we didn't make it to the BBQ on Saturday...we ended up staying in Hot Springs and spec-tatin' at the classic car auction there...no purchases made. And yes, the story is true...I was going to bring my new 2010 Inferno Orange 2SS Camaro...in addition to the 77 Bandit...but Lori insisted she was going to bring her 79 TA and make it a true Bandit-Run! Gotta listen to the boss! She got no argument from me! :)

Thanks again and hope to see you all soon!
